The Iron Feiries

Iron Fairies is the brainchild of Bangkok nightlife mogul, Ashley Sutton, this establishment is like no other in Bangkok— picture a Dickensian factory that is designed to replicate an ironsmith’s workshop: dark and broody, with wrought iron staircases, exposed pipes and dilapidated timber and brick. Bottled fairy dust are stacked in rows, and everywhere you look you could chance upon little iron figurines of the winged creatures that give the bar its name.

In 2013, it relocated to a much larger premises, it is now an enchanting maze of staircases, secret doors and dark alcoves. Doors open from 6 pm to 2 am, it can be quite a mission to find Iron Fairies, all you need to remember is after walking past Thong Lo Soi 10 and keep looking on your right hand side. The closest BTS Station is Thong Lo but you will need a quick taxi or motorcycle taxi from there.

An extensive list of signature cocktails await patrons. Other than that, a selection of Thai, Japanese, Mexican, and Dutch beers are also available - just in case liqueurs don’t tickle your fancy. If you are feeling peckish, fear not, whereas the menu might be limited but the burgers are definitely well-known. Picture a hearty portion of protein served up on a wooden chopping board and have to be held in place with a steak knife. Choose between premium Aussie beef, fish or even the tropical with pineapple and egg, all burgers are served with a side of thick wedges that will keep you satisfied all night.

If your not that hungry, also great! The bar offers complimentary peanuts that are nestled in bowls with miniature fairies lurking in the bowls. The peanuts are on the house, but if you are looking to take these magical creatures home, all you need to do is head on over to the bar and purchase them.

With a capacity of just 55 people and no advance bookings this place operates on a first come, first serve basis and on weekends it easily gets packed all night long. From 9 pm onwards, a live band plays jazz and soul standards that fills up the venue as quickly as the patrons do. Drop by as a couple – it’s a great place for a date – or for a small group that are looking to spending the night in another world entirely.
